    1. Yes! I have been trying to teach my students the difference between "trusted" and "trustworthy" for years. The fewer parts of a system you _have_ to trust, the better. Removing parts from the trusted base generally improves security and privacy. @laparisa/963931379049275392

    And this is one of the reasons why I work specifically on Android security: open source means that a huge part of the whole system does not have to be "trusted" in the sense of blind trust. Everybody can verify what's happening under the hood, and it becomes trustworthy instead.
