    @FiloSottile I try not to over-rotate on the term agility. Is it agility if an implementation supports multiple protocol versions differing only in their hard-coded primitives? If so, cipher suites kind-of become protocol versions and negotiation becomes protocol selection. 1/2

      @FiloSottile Some form of moving to other primitives in the future is required for a (set of versioned) protocol(s) to succeed. Managing the complexity of parallel versions is the hard part, and has hurt us in the past in the form of too many (bad) options in the negotiation phase. 2/2
